JOHANNESBURG - Eskom is warning customers to upgrade your prepaid meters or sit in the dark.
The utility is reminding its clients of 24 November deadline.
It says this isn't just another routine update, but a complete change of the system that manages tokens.

Eskom spokesperson Daphne Mokwena said after the deadline, the meters will not be able to accept any credit tokens.
"Out of the 6.9 million customers, 4 million have recoded their meters," she said.
"But from Eskom's side we made sure that 97 percent of that 6.9 million, their meters are ready to be recoded.
"So it’s just a matter of customers going to recharge their meters so that they can be able to upgrade their meters."
