JOHANNESBURG - Transport Minister Sindisiwe Chikunga and her bodyguards were robbed on the N3 on Monday.
Police have launched a manhunt for the suspects.
Brigadier Athlenda Mathe said in a statement that personal belongings and two SAPS service pistols were stolen during the incident.
"Members involved are receiving necessary support and counselling," Mathe said.
"A manhunt has since been launched following this unprecedented incident and to bring to book those responsible for this attack."
