JOHANNESBURG - The City of Johannesburg is expected to hold a media briefing today to announce recovery plans following the disruptions caused by a strike by Pikitup temporary workers.
The briefing will be led by City Manager Floyd Brink.
This comes after temporary workers at the waste management company downed tools in protest over their contracts, which will soon expire.
The striking workers are demanding permanent employment.
The protest has disrupted services resulting in waste piling up in several parts of Johannesburg.
