JOHANNESBURG - A storm is brewing in the medical schemes fraternity.
Hospital group Mediclinic is conducting a high-level probe following allegations of fraud.
An anonymous whistleblower accused Mediclinic of irregular billing practices in six of its hospitals.
It’s appointed a forensic team to look into these allegations, promising to act decisively and appropriately, should it be found that its billing processes are inaccurate, or unethical.
The Council for Medical Schemes says it's deeply concerned about the allegations, and is conducting its own probe.
