Mashatile calls for the need to confront inequality

KARIEGA - Deputy President, Paul Mashatile urges South Africans to work together and promote Human Rights for all. 

He singled out whistleblowers and SANDF soldiers in the DRC as examples that the country should follow in standing up for what's right.

The deputy president referred to the murder of Pamela Mabini who was shot in her home in Gqeberha in March.

Mabini was a human rights activist who advocated against gender-based violence and openly supported those who testified against Nigerian pastor Timothy Omotoso

Mashatile also highlighted and paid his respects to the SANDF troops that fought and also died in the DRC during peace-keeping in Goma. 

He says these soldiers died protecting the rights of the DRC population.

Mashatile says government is commitment to improving service delivery. He says close to 1-trillion rand will be availed to improve infrastructure.

He was delivering the keynote address at the National Human Rights Day event in Kariega in the Eastern Cape.
