Leaks, burst pipes muddy City of Joburg’s troubled waters

JOHANNESBURG - Residents of Johannesburg continue to be asked to use water sparingly as the city struggles to provide one of its most essential services. 

Parallel to this is the fact that it often takes weeks for the city to attend to burst pipes and leaks resulting in irreversible water loss.

Some residents have had to make alternate plans to make up for erratic water supply as they wait for officials to attend to the crisis.

Addressing these leaks and pipe bursts is set to cost Joburg Water billions, while the actual plan to do this remains vague.
