PIETERMARITZBURG - KwaZulu-Natal police have rescued six men who were kidnapped in Pietermaritzburg last week.
The group had been held in a house in Newlands West where they had been reportedly beaten and tortured.
Two suspects are in custody after a multi-disciplinary law enforcement team brought them in following a car chase and shootout.
The kidnappers had already extorted R100,000 from the group since their kidnapping last week Friday.
Authorities believe the suspects are connected to a gang that was killed in a gunfight with police in Marianhill a few days ago.
