DURBAN - KwaZulu-Natal will not be hosting the South African Music Awards this year.
This follows opposition parties' objections to the multi-million rand spend.
They say the money can be better used elsewhere.
Economic Development MEC, Siboniso Duma, says all procurement processes were followed.
They were above board and the province has previously hosted international events which have had huge spin-offs for the province.
Musicians in the province say they are unhappy about the decision.
