Kusile unit 3 back in service - Ramokgopa

JOHANNESBURG - Electricity Minister Kgosientsho Ramokgopa says Kusile's unit 3 is back up and providing 550 megawatts to the grid.

There were no power cuts over the past weekend.

The power utility saying this is thanks to the return to service of Kusile 3,
sustained improved performance and lower than anticipated demand for electricity.

However, Stage 2 power cuts will return at 4pm on Monday.

Over the weekend, Electricity Minister Kgosientsho Ramokgopa said that calculated risks have to be taken to prevent intensified levels of blackouts.
