Her appeal follows the rape of a 7-year-old girl on school grounds in the Eastern Cape.

The little girl was allegedly attacked on school premises while waiting for her transport last year.

Bergview College has come under fire for the poor handling of the case and is facing deregistration from the provincial education department.

The Eastern Cape Education Department insists it has been doing all it can, to get to the bottom of the rape incident at the school.

The province's education authority says Bergview is an independent institution, and this has made it difficult for the department to bring the school to book.

Vuyiseka Mboxela who is Education's spokesperson in Eastern Cape says all schools need to abide and follow laws that govern all schools in the country.
