CAPE TOWN - An inquiry into alleged Parliament arsonist Zandile Mafe's fitness to stand trial begins on Thursday.
Mafe has rejected expert opinions from both sides that he is not fit to stand trial.
An independent panel and a private psychiatrist examined Mafe before coming to this conclusion.

Mafe faces terrorism and arson charges after allegedly setting Parliament on fire.
The inquiry is being held under Section 77 of the Criminal Procedures Act.
It deals with how to handle an accused deemed unfit for trial due to a mental illness or intellectual disability.
