JOHANNESBURG - At least 30 Eastern Cape initiates have died during the summer initiation season so far.
That's according to the Provincial Traditional Affairs Department.
The Cultural, Religious and Linguistic Rights Commission says it's a crisis of accountability.

It also says there seems to be a disregard of the law in that province.
The commission says this is bringing the cultural practice of initiation into disrepute.
It's promising to take action to end the deaths of initiates.
