Illegal mining | Operation Prosper expected to run until April

JOHANNESBURG - More boots on the ground to help the police combat illegal mining.

President Cyril Ramaphosa has authorised the deployment of 3,300 soldiers to tackle the crime.

The operation, dubbed Operation Prosper, seeks to prevent and combat crime while also maintaining and preserving the law.

It is expected to run until April next year.

This will cost nearly R500-million.
