RICHARDS BAY - Former Education Minister Professor Sibusiso Bengu is being laid to rest in Kwazulu-Natal on Friday.
He died at the age of 90 on 30 December 2024.
Deputy President Paul Mashatile delivered eulogy at the funereal service.

Mashatile described Bengu as a prominent advocate for marginalised population and reversing the legacy of apartheid in education.
Bengu was democratic South Africa's first education minister and served from 1994 until 1999.
The ANC has described him as a distinguished educator, diplomat, and servant of the people.
