JOHANNESBURG - It’s highly probable that many escapees from Mozambican prisons are already in South Africa.
That’s according to one inmate who has admitted to bribing South African officials to gain entry into the country on Christmas Day.
In their statement, South African police say allegations that officials were bribed along the borderline, are disturbing and are being investigated.
In an exclusive interview with eNCA, the convicted criminal reveals how he escaped from a maximum prison in Maputo.
The inmates escaped after exchanging gunfire with prison police after local residents rioted outside the facilities as part of protests against the disputed October election results.
