JOHANNESBURG - Transnet says it will clear the backlog at the Durban harbour within a few weeks.
It says the backlog has already been reduced to single digits.
The weather is impacting some operations but the operator says contingency plans are in place.

The port has been prioritising retail cargo from the automotive, energy and FMCG sectors.
Durban's port had a backlog of over 60,000 containers towards the end of last year.
Poor maintenance and crumbling infrastructure were blamed for the problems at the port.
