eThekwini strike | Workers bring service delivery to a standstill

DURBAN - There’s no end in sight for the eThekwini Municipality strike that's seen thousands of employees downing tools. 

The municipality has over 27,000 workers in various departments including water, electricity, DSW and others are currently closed. 

The workers are demanding fair wages. 

The Municipal Workers Union says their members have been patient for long enough.

The municipality says it hasn’t received any memorandum of demands from the union.  

The municipality has also interdicted the strike and warned workers of the no work, no pay rule.

The workers have vowed to continue striking until an agreement is reached. 

In the meantime, residents are urged to keep their refuse in their yards and visit clinics that are still open.
