DURBAN - eThekwini officially has a mayor after almost a month without one.
eThekwini council speaker Thabani Nyawose has sworn in Former Agriculture MEC, Cyril Xaba, as new mayor.
Former mayor, Mxolisi Kaunda, was redeployed to the National Council of Provinces.
Kaunda had been at the helm of Durban municipality since 2019 when he took over from embattled former mayor, Zandile Gumede.
During his inauguration speech Xaba pledged to address water issues in the metro.
