EMPD's wife in court for allegedly orchestrating his murder

JOHANNESBURG - The wife of an EMPD officer appeared before the Springs Magistrate's Court on Monday.

She is believed to have orchestrated the murder Banele Sikhosana.

Sikhosana was gunned down outside his spaza shop in KwaThema on 7 February.

Ekurhuleni spokesperson, Zweli Dlamini says two suspects shot Sikhosana and stole his private firearm.

Dlamini said that one suspect was arrested on Monday 10 February, while the wife, was arrested on Friday 14 February.

The matter against the duo was postponed to Friday 21 for a formal bail application. 

"We are shocked and devastated because this is a young man who would have sacrificed his own life to save others," says Dlamini. 

"To have him killed [in that manner] is a loss to the EMPD but to people of South Africa at large," Dlamini said.
