By-elections in five provinces on Wednesday

JOHANNESBURG - 23 municipal ward by-elections are being held nationwide on Wednesday. 

An independent candidate and 80 candidates from 15 political parties will contest in the Free State, Gauteng, KwaZulu-Natal, Mpumalanga, and North West.

The ANC and MK party have been the biggest losers in KwaZulu Natal, losing to the Inkatha Freedom Party in several municipalities.
