JOHANNESBURG - Progress has been made to deal with the country's school infrastructure crisis.
That's the view of Basil Manuel, president of teachers' union Naptosa.
He says things are much better now compared to a decade ago.

Manuel however says issues like climate change and theft and vandalism is taking the country back.
"We sometimes aren't fair because it's not easy to see progress when you yourself have not moved and very often the criticism comes from the place where people haven't seen it themselves, so they can't believe that it has happened," he said.
"But in reality from 2013 to now there's been huge changes, particularly when one thinks of the eradication of mud schools, the number of schools that have been built throughout the country and the ablutions of course."
