EC police foil planned robbery

EAST LONDON - Eastern Cape Transport and Community Safety MEC, Xolile Nqatha, has congratulated law enforcement agencies for thwarting a planned robbery and arresting four suspects.

This was during a Friday night operation on the N2 outside Dutywa.

Police received information about criminals who allegedly planned a robbery, driving a Mercedes Benz and a Ford Ranger.

During a police chase, one of the vehicles was involved in a collision and two occupants fled the scene.

Police recovered an AK 47 Rifle, an R5 rifle, two pistols, ammunition, balaclavas and gloves.
