e-Hailing drivers threaten to stop servicing Cape Town Airport

CAPE TOWN - e-hailing drivers at Cape Town International Airport say their working conditions have become unbearable.

The Western Cape e-hailing Association is now threatening to withdraw services over the weekend.

Bolt says it’s been working with ACSA and the Cape Town International Airport to resolve the matter.

Uber, meanwhile, says discussions with drivers about their grievances are underway.

The Association says their parking area is always congested.

Space in the parking area is limited, often resulting in tensions among drivers.

Drivers complain that if they’re not parked inside the designated area, they don’t get trip requests.

They're also calling for the removal of the portable toilets from the site.

Uber says the ablution facilities have been made available for drivers, with a dedicated staff assigned to maintain them.

Bolt has further appealed to drivers to protest legally and peacefully, without infringing on the rights of other drivers who may decide to continue operating.

Uber says third-party security personnel have been deployed to ensure that drivers are safe.
