DRC Conflict | Remains of 14 SA soldiers finally back home

JOHANNESBURG - The bodies of 14 SANDF soldiers are finally back home after weeks of uncertainty and delays.

But families will have to wait until tonight for government's official handover ceremony at Air Force Base Swartkop.

The service was scheduled to take place this morning after the bodies arrived back home last night.

The soldiers died battling M23 rebels in the DRC.

The defence ministry announced the deaths of nine soldiers on 25 January.

The killing of three more troops was announced three days later, while two more men died of their wounds.
