MTUNZINI - Former education minister, Professor Sibusiso Bengu, has died, aged 90.
Bengu was democratic South Africa's first education minister and served from 1994 until 1999.
After that he became South Africa's ambassador to Germany until his retirement from politics in 2003.
Bengu died at his home in Mtunzini on the KwaZulu-Natal north coast on Monday night.
He is survived by his wife Funeka, four daughters and a son.
