PRETORIA - A VBS Bank criminal case has been postponed to 14 August, to hear an urgent application by two of the accused.
13 people appeared in the High Court in Pretoria on Monday on corruption-related charges, a fortnight after former VBS bank chairperson Tshifiwa Matodzi entered into a plea and sentence agreement with the state, which saw him being sentenced to a 15-year jail term.
Former Limpopo ANC treasurer, Danny Msiza and Kabelo Matsepe applied for a temporary stay of proceedings, and a separate trial.
Representing Msiza and Kabelo Matsepe, during the pre-trial conference on Monday, Advocate Shaun Abrahams made an urgent application before Judge Peter Mabuse.
The state says it did not expect Msiza and Matsepe’s interlocutory application.
The NPA previously said Matodzi had fully co-operated with the investigation and prosecution teams, but wouldn’t confirm or deny if the convicted fraudster, will testify against all the accused persons and many others he’s implicated in his leaked affidavit.
