DA Flag Advert | The party defends 'burning' issue

JOHANNESBURG -  The Democratic Alliance's new advertisement has divided opinion about whether it's disrespectful to the South African flag.

In the commercial, the flag can be seen burning with a warning about an EFF and Zuma coalition.

Many social media users have decried the ad saying it's offensive.

Madonsela says it's not about the message the DA was trying to get across, but rather the desecration of the South African flag.

Political analyst, Sanusha Naidu, says political parties must deal with South Africa's national symbols in a more mature way that respects citizens.
Naidu was part of an eNCA panel debate on the DA's advert that burns an image of the SA flag into ashes.
