JOHANNESBURG - President Cyril Ramaphosa describes as treasonous the Democratic Alliance's advert depicting a burning South African flag.
Ramaphosa says the ad is unacceptable.
At the same time, the DA's Federal Council Chairperson, Helen Zille, has defended the party's election campaign ad.
Minister Zizi Kodwa to take action against DA after flag burning campaign
The former DA leader sees the advertisement as the only way to convey a stark warning to South Africans.
Zille is of the view that the ad is conveying the hard truth that South Africa will burn should a coalition between the ANC, EFF, MK and PA become a reality.
She also believes the controversy will help get the party's message across.
Meanwhile, Sport, Arts and Culture Minister Zizi Kodwa is considering taking further steps against the Democratic Alliance over the party's ad depicting the South African flag burning.
Kodwa has called it 'abhorrent and unpatriotic'.
He has also instructed the Acting Director-General, advisors and the department's legal unit to urgently advise him on the steps he can take.
