The police top brass was briefing the police portfolio committee on plans to deal with extortion.

It comes after numerous arrests of alleged extortionists in KwaZulu-Natal, Gauteng and the Northern Cape.

"How can we have confidence that the new hotline they are talking about is going to yield desired results?" Meshoe asked.
