JOHANNESBURG - The Western Cape High Court has overturned the findings of the 1970 inquest that ruled Imam Abdullah Haron died after falling down a flight of stairs.
The anti-apartheid activist died while in police custody in September 1969.

An inquest the following year ruled that Haron sustained fatal injuries after falling down a flight of stairs at the then Caledon Square Police Station.
His family challenged the findings at the Western Cape High Court in November last year.
They believe he was tortured by the notorious Security Branch.
