'Competent leaders are needed to restore Johannesburg' - city councillor

JOHANNESBURG - A councillor for the Joburg CBD, Sihle Nguse, says it's important to put the right people in positions. 

He says if politicians hope to return the central business district to its  former glory, incompetence must be dealt with immediately.

This amid calls continue for the used-to-be world-class city of Joburg to be rehabilitated.

Nguse says investors will not put their money into an inner city that looks like Joburg in its current state.

Collective effort is needed to restore the city of Johannesburg to its former glory. 

That's according to the Organisation Undoing Tax Abuse. 

The city continues to deteriorate from buildings abandoned and hijacked to dirt-lined streets and increasing crime levels.

OUTA CEO, Wayne Duvenage, says civil society and government need to work together to address this.
