The City is set to appear in court to secure a contempt of court order.

This action follows the labor court's ruling that the strike is both illegal and unlawful.

The City has obtained funding approval from the National Treasury, enabling a gradual raise in municipal workers' salaries.

However, Treasury has outlined stringent conditions for the disbursement of funds.

These conditions include a 25 percent expense reduction, a 95 percent increase in revenue, and a decrease in contracted services.

Simultaneously, the union -- backed by the SACP -- is calling for the resignation of Mayor Cilliers Brink.
