City Power | Discussion | OUTA calls for scrapping of R200 surcharge

JOHANNESBURG - The Organisation Undoing Tax Abuse has called for the scrapping of the R200 surcharge on prepaid electricity.

City Power implemented the fixed charge last week.

It says it needs the revenue to maintain Johannesburg's electricity infrastructure.

OUTA's executive manager for local government, Julius Kleynhans, says this is an unreasonable expense for low-income households.

Kleynhans discussed this with eNCA.
