JOHANNESBURG - City Power says it will appeal a court order compelling it to pay over R 1 billion in debt to Eskom.
The court ruled that the utility should pay Eskom the money, plus the interest on its outstanding electricity account by Friday.
City Power says the court did not fully consider critical aspects of the evidence in reaching its conclusion. According to the utility, Eskom owes it R3.4 billion.
Furthermore, City Power says despite mediation efforts, the national utility bypassed the Inter-Governmental Relations dispute resolution processes.
It believes a full bench of the court will reach a different verdict.
