CAPE TOWN - Santaco's first deputy chairperson Nceba Enge says he's surprised at the reasons quoted for impounding their taxis.
He says that they're not warranted.
This comes after the City of Cape Town impounded 14 more taxis, despite a deal last week in which the city would not impound Santaco Taxis for 14 days.
Enge said, "14 of our vehicles were impounded this weekend some on Saturday, some on Sunday."
"We get information from the operators that they were wrongly impounded because one of the vehicles was impounded due to the fact that the driver did not have a driver's licence; that is not an impoundable offences."
"One of the vans was overloaded and that as well is not an impoundable offence. It is what we already agreed to that such offenses will not warrant any impoundment. So it really surprised us."
