Calls for Govt to link grant to skills development

JOHANNESBURG - President Cyril Ramaphosa has announced that the social relief of distress grant will be expanded.

During his State of the Nation Address, the president said the grant will create a more sustainable source of income.

The 370 rand grant was introduced at the height of Covid-19 pandemic and over 8-million unemployed South Africans receive the payout.

The Afrika Tikkun organisation says the grant should be linked with skills development programmes.
