Bus driver in Mpumalanga fatal crash fingered in preliminary probe

JOHANNESBURG - The Railway Safety Regulator says the driver of the school bus involved in a collision with a train in Mpumalanga did not adhere to the road signage at the level crossing.

This is part of its preliminary findings about last week's crash at the Arnot Level Crossing.

The regulator says the protection signage there was largely compliant with the prescribed safety standards.

Further investigations will be undertaken by the rail operator and road safety authorities.

Six pupils were killed and 20 injured in the collision.
