VREDENBURG - Joshlin Smith's two siblings are in the care of family members.
Community members said they're worried about the children and have been calling on social development to take decisive action and to ensure that the children are taken care of.
Four suspects implicated in her disappearance -- including Joshlin's mother and her mother's boyfriend -- made a brief appearance before the Vredenburg magistrate's court on Thursday morning.
The community protested outside court while back home the search for the 6-year-old continues.
The acting MEC for social development in the Western Cape, Nomafrench Mbombo, said there are plans in place to take care of the children.
"They are still with trusted relatives with social development making sure they are safe," she said.
