PARIS - Team South Africa claimed their first medal at the 2024 Paris Olympics as the Springbok Sevens defeated Australia.
The Blitzboks finished as third-best and walked away with a bronze after their last-gasp win over the Aussies.
South Africa looked well on course to victory in the second half, before Australia launched a late fightback to score two tries.
However, the Blitzboks showed determination when they scored their winning try for a 26-19 victory on the night.
It’s the second bronze medal for the South African Men’s Sevens side after Rio in 2016.
