PRETORIA - The trial against rapist and murderer Thabo Bester seems like a long way off.
Pre-trial proceedings have not even begun. It was meant to go ahead on Wednesday, but one of the defence lawyers withdrew. Two of the accused have to now applied for legal aid.

Once the case is back, the court may have to deal with a challenge by Bester to the court's jurisdiction.
The delays are leaving Nadipha Magadumana and her defence team frustrated.
The family of Katlego Bereng, whose charred body was allegedly used as a decoy in Bester's escape were in attendance at court on Wednesday.
Bereng's aunt, Poppie, says the delays are discouraging for the family.
