STILFONTEIN, North West - Calls are mounting for the South African Police Service to grant space to illegal miners who remain underground at North West's Orkney and Stilfontein shafts, to return to the surface to access food and water.
The High Court in Pretoria has ordered all parties to end the blockade of the shafts.
But the South African Police Service says its Operation, Vala Mgodi, is still actively preventing more illegal miners from going underground.
