JOHANNESBURG - The underground strike at the Bakubung Platinum Mine in Rustenburg, North West has been called off.
It follows a meeting between the mine management and the National Union of Mineworkers on Friday.
Over 200 mine workers staged a sit-in on Wednesday morning demanding salary increases, 100 percent medical aid benefit, living-out allowances and full maternity leave benefits.
Following that meeting between management and the union on Friday, the mine released a statement saying all remaining workers resurfaced safely.
Meanwhile, over 400 miners at Gold One Modder East mine in Springs have still not resurfaced.
They have been staging a sit-in since Thursday night.
The miners are upset over recent dismissals and the continued non-recognition of union, AMCU.
However, there have been some contention with union leaders saying some workers are being held against their will.
