JOHANNESBURG - ANC struggle veteran, Aziz Pahad passed away at the age of 82, surrounded by his family in Johannesburg.
Pahad was Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs from 1994 to 2008.
In its tribute, the ANC says it remembers Pahad as a patriot and freedom fighter who distinguished himself as a party representative in exile, particularly in London.
Along with his brother Essop, Aziz Pahad came from a family that was heavily involved in the struggle against apartheid.
Both parents, Goolam and Amina, were active in the 1950's in the fight for political change.
His death comes just over two months after his older brother Essop was laid to rest.
Aziz Pahad is survived by his wife Angina, brother, children, his granddaughter, and extended family members.
