Authorities look to curb Easter road deaths

JOHANNESBURG - Transport Minister Sindisiwe Chikunga will launch the Easter road safety campaign on Wednesday.

The 2023 Easter road deaths were 33 percent higher than in 2022.

This year, government is roping in the Bakwena Toll Concession to help.

It's responsible for almost 400 kilometres of the N1 and N4 between Gauteng, Limpopo and the North West.

A staggered travel period is expected due to public schools closing in the same week as the Human Rights Day holiday, followed by Easter the following week.
