PRETORIA - ANC Secretary General, Fikile Mbalula says talks with various political parties are underway to pass the budget in Parliament.

The first draft was rejected over the proposed VAT increase.

The current revision of a half a percentage point increase is still controversial, with many parties saying they won't sign off on it.

ANC needs the support of the DA and other GNU partners, or of the opposition EFF and MK Party to get the Budget passed.

ActionSA has put a spanner in the works by also rejecting the Budget in its current form.

The Democratic Alliance on the other hand wants the government to reassess bills it has recently signed into law, these are the Land Expropriation Act and BELA Act.

The party believes the courts should have the final say to clarify some clauses in these acts.
