ANC looking at possible interventions to deal with cost of living crisis

JOHANNESBURG - The ANC says it is looking at possible interventions to deal with the cost of living crisis.
The party's National Executive Committee has raised concern over the way retailers react when crises like the avian flu arise.
Retailers have been accused of inflating prices even though the outbreak is under control.
ANC NEC member, Mamoloko Kubayi says measures to monitor retailers are being considered.

"One of the issues that we are concerned about, in the cost of living, is how retailers react," she said.

"When we look at the issue of eggs, you will find that retailers went and put the prices high, obviously they are managing demand but we do think that there are quite a number of areas that we are seeing the trend of even when the prices are coming down, retailers don't bring down the cost."
