BENONI - Ekurhuleni community leaders are demanding alleged serial rapist Sipho Lucas Phiri be locked up for good.
He's accused of inflicting a reign of terror for six years, allegedly raping 37 women -- some as young as 15.
He's set to go on trial but is attempting to bar eNCA's cameras from televising proceedings.
Phiri is charged with 145 counts which include rape, kidnapping, pointing a firearm, fraud, obstruction of justice and forcing someone to witness a sexual act.
Since his arrest in January 2023 he's been remanded in custody.
His trial has been set down for three weeks.
