DURBAN - The KZN Police Commissioner said AKA was the intended target of the shooting, and Tibz was just a coincidence.
The police provided these details during a briefing in Durban.
WATCH | Six suspects arrested in connection with AKA, Tibz killings
Police Minister Bheki Cele confirmed on Tuesday evening that 6 suspects have been arrested.
The suspects are due to appear in court on Thursday.
AKA (Kiernan Forbes) was shot dead, alongside Tebello Mostoane (Tibz) last year in front of a restaurant on Florida Road, Durban.
Police say the arrests include two suspects -- who were arrested in Eswatini on Saturday.
Meanwhile, earlier this month AKA’s father, Tony Forbes cut a frustrated figure over the communication from police about his son’s murder.
On the anniversary of the killing, Forbes wished there were frequent updates from officials instead of politicizing the killing.
