AARTO Act | Buckle up for points demerit system

JOHANNESBURG - In July last year, the Constitutional Court declared the AARTO Act constitutional and valid.

Now, it will be implemented in just a few months.

It will see a new demerit system which will penalise errant drivers.

MasterDrive MD Eugene Herbert said the implementation should cut down road carnage.

"It's not all bad news. The fact is that it's due for implementation very soon," Herbert said.

He said there's talk that the implementation might happen in July.

"We know that speeding is one of the easiest things to enforce so you better be really cautious about watching your speed limits," Herbert said.
