JOHANNESBURG - Police have identified persons of interest peddling violence ahead of the May 29 elections on social media.
Minister Bheki Cele was speaking on the sidelines of the Presidential Imbizo in eMalahleni, in Mpumalanga.

"There are individuals that we are looking close at, they are becoming people of interest. Especially in all these online platforms like TikTok and others," Cele said.
"I don't know why people don't believe that police can trace you using social media. A perfect example is the 2021 unrests where over 60 people were arrested through social media. One of them was sentenced to 12 years behind bars. We are taking this serious," Cele explained.
